Agreed. While I don’t mind many aspects of liberation theology, I’m happy to keep the contents that cares for the least of these and call it by a different name in some circles if it is going to be an unnecessary obstacle for people.
When I was a kid, I heard positives about Dr King in public school but negatives in the church and Christian environments (“he was a commie, he was a womanizer, his followers were druggies and trouble makers, etc.”). What a shame that people who didn’t even claim to be Christians could see the fruit of the Spirit while many Christians only closed their eyes.
