Thank you, Andrew! This is very thoughtful and helpful. i’m passionate about contextualized ministry, and this is sure to affirm those convictions, but I have long thought that Catholics and Eastern Orthodox are also part of the family. This is sure to be helpful when having these conversations with my friends who are looking for historical rootedness in a “rootless” age. Off to order the book. 🥰

I want you to read Why I am Roman Catholic next! See if there's benefit from reading the "other side" which I'm guessing there is. I'll have to check out the Doctrine book you mentioned.

I plan on reading as well as I believe a planned Eastern Orthodox book that is in the work for the same series! I’m sure it will be tremendously helpful.

Oh that's wonderful that they're doing Eastern Orthodox too. That'll be good!

That’s what I understand the plan to be! Might want to double check it though.

Thoughtful review. I've always felt a strong draw into what brings us together as the larger christian faith and have appreciated the universal family of God when visiting services in very different christian churches overthe years. I do find myself wondering how protestantism, my own "young upstart" tradition, fits in with other traditions which emphasize their long, histories. Sounds like a good read. My problem is deciding which book to invest my time in of many you have mentioned of late!
